After a jump in fierce splash to standing/ducking short, you can do a Siberian Suplex IF you landed the jump in DEEP or as a CROSS-UP. This does better damage and looks way cool! :) You can also try doing a standing short into the Final Atomic Buster this is SURE to be a crowd pleaser. :) Check out my Zangief FAQ at gamefaqs.com

Try this as an air counter with gief. When someone jumps in I do a quick lariat. Then immediately go for a level 1 aerial russian slam. This does good damage and setups for them to play ground game which allows you to get those much needed surprise jump in traps.

I've found a nasty juggle with his Aerial Russian Slam super. Major Counter the opponent in the air (preferably with a Body Splash) then land and perform the super. Nearly impossible escape, even with a juggle recovery.

He still has a nasty tick combo: if the opponent blocks a jump in splash [down+HP] then standing LK, you can do a Spinning Piledriver or the Final Atomic Buster right afterwards. Almost inescapable: a fast opponent can stick a jab or burst attack like Chun-Li's lightning kicks in between the blocked splash and the standing LK. I've only seen someone escape after the LK once, and it was the CPU.

Zangief now has a crouching jab [LP], crouching short [LK] chain.
He can also do cross-up Splash [HP], crouching jab [LP], crouching short [LK], Screw Piledriver - 40% damage. Stick in a Final Atomic Buster when in Xism, and it does 60% damage.
For A-ism Zangief, his standing jab will counter almost all jump-in attacks, then follow up the standing jab with the level 3 Arial Russian Slam super. The super will catch them even if they tech out of the jab. Does 30% - 40% damage.

If you're going to tick into an fab off a crouch move, an easy trick is to do the 720 motion going from crouch and then doing 2 full circles back to crouch. This works better as opposed to some people going from crouch then quickly to back and then doing a 720.

Xism Zangief hits HARD. The damage he does from two or three fierce [HP]/ roundhouse [HK] hits is beautiful and only fair, if you consider that Zangief doesn't have too many other weapons at his disposal. The [Screw] Piledriver range seems to be better, though the damage seems a bit so-so. Spinning Lariat is MUCH improved.
